Identity theft is a growing problem. Keep your information safe by shredding your old documents at our client appreciation event April 23. You'll also learn how to create strong Internet passwords.
Here are some suggested items to shred:
- Credit card statements
- Old checks
- IRS tax returns
- Bank statements
- Mail containing your address
- Anything a thief could use to steal your identity
Shred old paperwork: A local service will be on hand to shred your documents, thus keeping sensitive personal and business information out of thieves' hands.
Protect your passwords: Technology expert Christian Perrier of Fixed Fee IT will give the fundamentals of creating strong passwords. His talk, "A Note on Passwords—How to Lock Your Digital Doors," will cover:
- The principles of a good password
- Whether to use a different password for each of your logins
- How to create passwords that are strong and unique yet easy to memorize
